Is there any plans to fix the bug where SURBL checking is applied in domains with spam checking turned off?

Just sent the log. I've been doing a lot of testing since last night. Results very random, e.g. sometimes http://www.intel.com got blocked, and sometimes it didn't. Then tried parsing the emails through yasu. Same problem occurred. Looks like the issue is communication between our server and surbl.o...

Yes, I'm using the default SURBL server in 4.3[b248], and I've removed all the YASU code in eventhandlers.vbs which was used for 4.2.1[b197].

Should I email you the relevant section of the log for one of the emails?

No one else experienced any of this?

Martin, can I email you some of the emails that were blocked so you find out what the problem is?

And why does email from an IP address with spam checking turned off get SURBL checked anyway?

SURBL & false positives

Upgrade to 4.3[b248] last night about 1am, previously used 4.2.1[b197]. With 4.2.1 we used YASU for SURBL checking, but since 4.3 adds SURBL support I removed all the YASU code from the eventhandlers file. On checking the logs this morning I find that about 20 emails out of 400 processed have been b...

Oops, just realised, although I'm using aliases to forward to local accounts, I'm guessing aliases are always treated differently because they could be used to forward to external accounts?

I would use smtp authentication, but from within my php script its not possible, and if it is, it's not easy!!

I know you'll hate me for asking this, but why are local accounts treated different from aliases?

The PHP script runs on the same machine as hmailserver, and allowing all external to external without authentication is not feasible as the server is also used by our hosting clients and I don't want to give them the ability to send from external to external within their web scripts. If you are aski...

external to external problem

When sending email from a mail alias, this is treated as sending from an external account by the IP address range rules. Is this deliberate or is it a bug? I noticed this when testing the mail function in a PHP script. In this situation I can't enable authentication in hmail because the basic php ma...

Forward rule for outgoing mail

Using 4.2 b195, I have tried to create a global forward rule so that mail sent from a local domain is forwarded to my boss for monitoring, however this results in chaos with the email appearing hundreds of times in the delivery queue. My rule is: if from contains localdomain.com, action = forward to...

I added the following code in eventhandlers and it has sorted the problem: ' SKIP SPAM CHECKS ON MAIL THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN SPAM CHECKED (E.G. MIRRORED EMAIL) Dim s2, SearchString2 s2 = oMessage.HeaderValue("X-Spam-Checker-Version") SearchString2 = "SpamAssassin" If InStr(1, s2, SearchString2, 1) > ...

Mirrored email spam checked twice

I'm using hMS v4.1.1 b140 on Windows Server 2003 with Spam Assassin 3.1.0. I'm making use of the mirror feature so that I can monitor all incoming and outgoing emails, however emails that Spam Assassin flags as spam are then spam checked again when being delivered to the mirrored address. i.e. mirro...

I had those lines commented because when using the spamc command, the mail was delivered without being spam checked. I therefore used the direct spam assassin command.

I've read through all the posts in this thread and using the various code samples I have created the following code to run SA with no checking on outgoing emails. Thanks very much to the users (especially Glen) who posted the code originally :D . Sub OnDeliverMessage(oMessage) fname = oMessage.filen...

Yes, I followed that guide to get it installed, although I've not yet setup the folders for spam/ham.

Would like to try the SAConf gui, does any know of another download location?

Spam Assassin configuration

Installed hMailserver 4.1 and spam assassin 3.1. Everything works ok, but I am stuck on trying to fine tune Spam assassin - it is picking up a lot of genuine mail as spam including stuff sent between two users on our server. Does anyone know of a good step by step configuration guide for tuning spam...
