You might want to see if there is anything in the following registry key: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hMailServer\DependOnService I have "hMailServerMySQL RPCSS" on my test machine, since it uses the local MySQL service. If you see a MySQL entry in there you may want to delete it so the v...

Thanks martin, I'll test it when you put it on the download page.

Also, I have a feature request to be able to know when a message was first placed in a particular folder. I describe what I mean in the feature request section:

Folder entry date for a message

I would like for there to be a property on a message that tells me the date the message was first placed in its current folder. This will allow me to delete messages that have been in a folder for a specific amount of time using a script. For example, a user deletes and e-mail which goes to the Dele...

As for the RFC822 date format, do you have an example on hand? There are various forms that this can take, but here is one from the header of an e-mail I received: Wed, 11 Jan 2006 11:45:55 -0800 1) You use DeleteByDBID to delete a message. Yes. 2) The message isn't removed from the message list in...

You should be able to let DateValue() do this for you: http://www.devguru.com/Technologies/vbscript/quickref/datevalue.html DateValue() won't parse RFC822 dates which are used in e-mails, I just tried it. Can't you use the Clear() method: http://www.hmailserver.com/documentation/?page=com_cache I'v...

I have not had time to finish up the script, I am using it as is except I added this to the end of the script: 'Restart Hmailserver to clear the cache hMail.Stop hMail.Start Not pretty, but it works. I'm still not sure why using the DeleteByDBID wouldn't update the cache. Also, with regards to Gusta...

I had a similar issue. My server has two external IP's and hMail always uses the first one in the IP Address list in the TCP/IP properties of windows for outgoing connections. I can't remember why, but I can't change the order of the IP's or something else breaks. The solution I came up with was to ...

That would be it. I am running 5.0.15 on that particular machine. I have a system running hMail 4.2 and compared the database schema from that one to the one I was having problems with to find out which fields required the defaults. I added the defaults it wanted manually and it has been working fin...

Thanks Martin, I will rewrite the script using the IMAPFolders collection and get rid of the direct db access. I still have a problem with the message sticking around in the cache after using DeleteByDBID. It shows an e-mail from Postmaster like the following for each of the deleted messages: The ma...

Sql script is missing defaults?

I created the mysql database manually, on an existing mysql installation, using the CreateTablesMYSQL.sql script. The resulting database did not have a lot of the defaults that hmailserver requires. I had to go and add them to the database after the fact. Not sure if there is another script to add t...

I want to be able to remove the items from a specific folder. I did not see anything in the API to get the IMAP folder name of the message.

I just ran my script and then checked the folder it deleted from and it had a bunch of messages from postmaster saying that the messages is missing on the server (One for each deleted item I presume). Once I restarted hMailServer they all went away. I thought using the API to delete the messages wou...

I'm in the process of setting something up that deletes mail in the Junk Mail folder after a set number of days. I have a rule in hMailServer that sends spam to the Junk E-mail folder if it is marked as spam by assp. Instructions for that are found here . Then I plan on scheduling the following vbsc...

This script might do what you need:

http://www.kofler.cc/mysql/mssql2mysql.html

I would think you could let hmailserver setup create the MySql Database and then copy all the insert statements that the script above creates and run them against MySql.

hMailServer still retries after message too large error

When hMailServer sends a message to a remote SMTP server and receives error 552, would it be possible to cancel the message all together (Permanent error)? It seems that hMailServer treats this as a temporary error and retries the message according to the SMTP retry settings, and since the message i...

Apostrophe's in e-mail addresses

We have one user that sends mail to someone with an apostrophe (') in their e-mail address. Apparently, this worked when we were using our ISP's SMTP server, but it is not working with hmailserver. The logs show the apostrophe removed from the address and it gets a 550 No such user reply from the de...
