Re: Heartbleed Bug in OpenSSL

For what it's worth, I found out that the on-line testing at
http://possible.lv/tools/hb/
provides more informative results than the test at filippo.io

Re: System fails to respond after wrong PW login attempts

Thank you for the pointer. I was not aware of this setting until now. Will have to treat this feature carefully, since wrong PW entries on one account will render the whole hMS system unresponsive for the auto-ban set duration (will need to apply the remedy discussed in the documentation to countera...

System fails to respond after wrong PW login attempts

This is just a note regarding a possible issue with hMailServer (V.5.3-B1617): I tried to connect with my email client to one of my IMAP hMS accounts (all local under Win XP SP3), doing several attempts with a wrong PW. After that, none of my other accounts were accessible - POP or IMAP - any more (...

Re: Domain /Email address blacklist

I looked at this setup, but as far as I can tell it allows only one-off setup for an IP range. I can not see the possibility to set the following: Allow deliveries/Connections for the full internet's IP range except the following: 1. IP_Range1 2. IP_Range2 etc. As I can with my example with the Serv...

Re: Selectively deleting "Sent" messages

No, I was after finding a way to delete the sent messages themselves. No interest in the logging - I just look at the log and thought that, based on some logged info, hMS kept the outgoing messages. Evidently I was wrong - hMS does not keep the content of the sent messages, so I am fine now - nothin...

Re: Domain /Email address blacklist

martin,

I went carefully through the documentation and the available choices in the admin GUI, and could not find a place where I could blacklist a range of IP addresses. Found whitelisting, but not blacklisting. A pointer to such a location would be appreciated.

Re: Selectively deleting "Sent" messages

sheffters,

Thanks. This is what I also realized based on mattg's comment. I assumed that hMS always kept the sent messages in its database, but evidently it didn't.

Re: Selectively deleting "Sent" messages

^DooM^ : your reply concurs with my message: sending out by SMTP on port 25. mattg: I have always thought that hMS logs in its database the content of the sent messages, regardless of email clients setup/used (I use Thunderbird V.3 now) . I assumed that since I saw "saving message" log entry in the ...

Re: Selectively deleting "Sent" messages

DeanoX,

Since sending messages out is done by the SMTP (Port 25) service, and the receiving is done by the POP3 (Port 110) service, I am hopeful that there is a database flag associated with each message to indicate past "outgoing" or "incoming"which might be used in some script processing.

Re: Domain /Email address blacklist

I run a FTP server (Serv-U) which being occasionally hit by Chinese hackers who try to guess the login PW, so I block their ISP's IP range before they see the login dialog box. Since I don't have any dealings with China, I deny wide-range subnets. The IP allow/deny rules are set up per FTP account o...

Selectively deleting "Sent" messages

Hello, I am searching for a way to selectively delete past "sent" messages from my email accounts. To determine which message to delete, I need to see its date, subject, from, to and size and then decide whether to leave it untouched or to delete it. I am the only user on my hMS installation (local ...

I appreciate the help, Martin.
I did a full line match by using "[\w]+\s[A-Z]\.\s[\w]+".*$ and it worked.

Thanks.

No rule activation on validated RegEx

Hi, I am trying to delete all incoming mail where the "To:" field contains a formal format of a first name, middle initial and last name. I built a regex that passed the validation in http://www.dotnetcoders.com/web/Learning/Regex/RegexTester.aspx on the provided test case below, but messages still ...

Implementing domainlkeys signature

No rush, but it may be a good idea to try to implement Yahoo's domainkeys system to combat spam. I see that gmail has implemented this too.

See the details in:

http://antispam.yahoo.com/domainkeys
and in
http://domainkeys.sourceforge.net/

Encrypting user PW in log files

The log files list the exchange details between external servers or mail clients with the local mail server, and include the local users' password in clear text. This is a security concern. If seeing the PW is required to debug an unsuccessful command exchange, maybe to have an admin controlled swit...
