I think i am out the loop a bit but why are we abandoning MySQL? I happen to like it though i am sure oracle will fubar it a few years. will i still be able to use my dedicated mysql server in the new version if you choose to go with something else? Mail Slow to Exit Que

I have noticed that both incoming and outgoing mail seems to sit in the que for a rather long time...maybe 10-15 mins.

I haven't noticed any errors in the logs.

Anyone else notice something like this?


I am running the latest beta release(5.3.3 bxxxx).

i used to decode the IP in the DB like so: inet_ntoa(`hm_greylisting_triplets`.`glipaddress1`) AS `IP'

Somewhere along the line that broke...i guessing IPv6 support

how can i decode them now?

I got it working using tooms tool and it works fine but i still think it would be nice if hmail could do it natively.

When i send a message to a distribution list that i am a member of it sends the message back to me which i find find to be slightly annoying...Can a feature be added that the distribution list doesn't send mail so the sender of the message....or maybe there is already a way to do this.

nearly 100% of my spam is caught but I do have some legit messages that don't have date header.

The script trick posted above seems to work so i am satisfied with that.

I have to route some of my mail though my ISP b/c of my dynamic IP(not the best setup i know). For whatever reason my ISP adds a blank line to mail i send which breaks my DKIM sig which in turn causes some of my mail to get tagged as spam. Could there be a featured added to turn DKIM off by routes? ...

anyone running the latest version "clamav-0.95-1a.exe"? It didn't seem to work form me. The "clamav-0.94.2-1a.exe" version did however.

ohhh ok. I was very confused as to the intent of the setting.

Is this Part of the RFC? it seems to me that it would be better for them to add a "check sender exists" command. Just seems a bit of a hack to do it this way.

umm ok dyslexic moment.

But i am still not sure that it makes sense. Why would an SMTP server not accept mail from me if i didn't allow empty sender address? Wouldn't i be rejecting mail that didn't have a sender?

You have configured hMailServer not to allow email with empty sender address. Many email server will not accept email from your server with this configuration.
this is with the box unchecked which, to me at least, means that they are not allowed.

SMTP bug

In the SMTP RFC setting "allow empty sender address" check box is logically inverted. When it is checked it should allow empty address however i have have it unchecked and it is giving me a configuration warning b/c i am allowing empty senders.

ok i relay all of my outgoing mail though my ISP b/c a lot of other mail servers don't like that i have a dynamic IP address(not an ideal situation--i know). The test failed when I sent the mail though the relay but passed when i turned the relay off. Is this expected? As i understand DKIM it checks...

ok so my steps are:

1) Shutdown server

2) dump DB

3) restore DB

4) run \hMailServer\Bin\dbsetup.exe

5) restart server


what about my second question?

i have one range for the internet and one for my lan--this is not the issue--all the mail in question would get included in the internet category which i know is gray listing other mail correctly.

Have you upgraded to Ver 5 yet? I think that this was related to the way that mail with a local from address bypassed the ANTI-SPAM tests.
