Re: hMailServer with SQL Server 2012 High Availability group
Looks like my Google-fu is in decent shape after all. My main problem with getting hMailServer to connect is that I didn’t have a listener for my availability group. Any and all attempts to create a listener resulted in failure. The whole point of an availability group is to more directly connect a ...

hMailServer with SQL Server 2012 High Availability group
I am having a devil of a problem, and I am under pressure to get it solved. Apologies if I end up being blunt. I have a pair of Windows 2012 R2 servers that are clustered in a domain-based environment, and make use of SQL Server 2012. Because I do not have iSCSI storage, I was unable to use SQL Clus...

Re: Error 800706ba when connecting remotely.
Small update: Even with both my “daily driver” and my mail server completely rebuilt from the ground up, (I was dissatisfied with the setup of my main machine, and my daily driver was experiencing pervasive hardware issues that pointed toward a hardware failure in the near future) this kind of a rem...

Re: Error 800706ba when connecting remotely.
Unfortunately, yes I have seen this information already. And each item has already been dealt with.
I originally got a different error entirely (a connection refused error), so I found this page and went through every item.
Further suggestions?

Re: Error 800706ba when connecting remotely.
PHPWebAdmin is not desirable at this time, as I do not want to run any extra services off of that box. Port 25 is unreachable from anywhere else on the Internet, thanks to the restrictions of my ISP (even for a business account that allows web and email servers). Port 26 (or any other port than 25, ...

Error 800706ba when connecting remotely.
This seems to be a somewhat unusual problem, so I will try to be comprehensive in my description. hMailServer machine: Athlon XP 3200, 2GB RAM, 2 drives (one for OS, other for hMailServer & MSSQL) Windows 2000 Professional MS SQL Server 2005 Standard hMailServer 5.3.3-B1879 (full install) Remote acc...

Re: Catch-all & Rules broken after update from 5.0 to 5.3.1
Whelp, while 5.3.2 Beta worked, there were still far too many bugs to contemplate using the setup. I seriously doubt that this was a problem on the part of the developers, because I doubt they ever expected such a long-term usage. I've been upgrading hMailServer since the early 3.x days!! Somewhere,...

Re: Catch-all & Rules broken after update from 5.0 to 5.3.1
As replied to your other post (that you tacked onto an old topic in General Discussion), this is a problem with 5.3.1 as Martin mentions in this thread: http://www.hmailserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17249&p=102278&hilit=beta#p102278 The fix is to not use 5.3.1 - get the 5.3.2 beta and instal...

Re: Help please - 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550
rekabis, a similar topic was posted last week, and Martin stated that there is a problem with the catchall handling in 5.3.1. The 5.3.2 beta fixes this. However, in your last post you state you have 5.3.2, and then later that you have 5.3.1 - which is it? The topic discussing this last week is here...

Re: Catch-all & Rules broken after update from 5.0 to 5.3.1
I have confirmed that the catch-all isn't catching the e-mail, and it bounces with an undesirable error message: Final-Recipient: rfc822;rene@<domain>.com Action: failed Status: 5.0.0 (permanent failure) Remote-MTA: dns; [24.67.64.36] Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'Unknown...

Re: Catch-all & Rules broken after update from 5.0 to 5.3.1
Well, to be clear, I had upgraded hMailServer on my original server, upon which any and all internal forwarding ceased, and then I moved my hMailServer setup to another server. It was only on this new server that I noticed that forwarding wasn't working, and decided to investigate. The fact that the...

Catch-all & Rules broken after update from 5.0 to 5.3.1
I have just done an upgrade-and-move from one server to another. I had 5.0 on my main windows server, upgraded it to 5.3.1 b1748, and then moved the entire install (as per FAQ instructions) to another machine. Everything appears to function perfectly except for two things: the catch-all entries and ...

Re: Relaying all spam (as marked by other blacklists) to SpamCop
Suggestion one has already been done. Did that about four years ago. That is where my "special" SpamCop e-mail address is located, as everything that comes in that way is automatically forwarded on, with the assumption that it is spam. Suggestion two is - probably - what I am trying to implement, bu...

Relaying all spam (as marked by other blacklists) to SpamCop
Greetings. I am looking to achieve a special effect that does not appear to be standard behaviour within hMailServer. When e-mail is accepted, it can be filtered against blacklists, including SpamCop. However, I want to then do things with any e-mail that come up as positive as spam, and I want to d...

Re: changing path/location of Data and Log directories
> As for the path issue, another one I can think of is backward compatibility. Yes. If it had been as easy as just running an update and trimming away the paths then it wouldn't be any problem. Re: changing path/location of Data and Log directories
Sure, but it *would work*. Anyway, if you search the forum you'll find examples of SQL statements to do it. Here's one: UPDATE hm_message SET messagefilename=REPLACE(messagefilename,'OldPath','NewPath'); Of course, if the syntax is incorrect in some way you'll blow up everything. I recommend that y...

Re: changing path/location of Data and Log directories
Come to think of it, why does the DB have to store the entire path?? Why not simply store the path inside the /data/ directory, and have the program itself pull the initial path from the INI file? This would make, IMHO, a lot more sense than storing the entire path in the DB.

Re: changing path/location of Data and Log directories
Why wouldn't that method work if you have a larger number of messages? If you're using a text editor which doesn't support find and replace you need to upgrade it... :) IMHO it's a lot quicker to net stop hmailserver , run an SQL query, open the table to do a quick double-check (to see if it took),...

Re: changing path/location of Data and Log directories
Just confirmed that editing the INI file (while hMailServer is not running) does indeed work once hMailServer gets back up and running. I have done so for my logs, and all new log entries are being made to the new location. All I need to know is if this works for the data directory as well. If I wer...

Re: changing path/location of Data and Log directories
Yeah, well. Works fine if you only have a few accounts with maybe a hundred e-mails at most. I'm dealing with over a dozen domains and potentially thousands of e-mails. Hence, the SQL query-and-replace, to make things easier. ;-) Seriously. My e-mail server processes over 30,000 e-mails on a *slow* ...

changing path/location of Data and Log directories
Greetings! Due to security, backup requirements and other concerns (including drive space), I would like to know how to move the program-created data away from the installation directory. It seems that this advice does not function with Symantec Endpoint Protection v.11.0.4000 Could someone please suggest alternative routes? There are many servers out there without a reverse DNS entry. Take mine, for example. I am running my server on a static IP provided by Shaw. My domain name makes use of GoDaddy’s Web DNS service. As such, it does not have the ability to create reverse DNS entries. Any e-mail server that checked rev...
