I get this when I try to send a message to my gmail:
ERROR:
Message not sent. Server replied:
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
10061 Can't open SMTP stream.
I did change the SMTP port to 587 in Hmail Server Adminstrator because my ISP blocks 25, is there anywhere else I need to change it?

Re: 10061 Can't open SMTP stream.
Again, the technical knowledge thing comes into play
The world's mail servers listen on port 25
Perhaps you should relay via your ISP's mail server

Just 'cause I link to a page and say little else doesn't mean I am not being nice.

It will work only for deliveries to remote addresses. See smtp relayer option in hMailServer configuration. Their service is nothing more than SMTP relay host setup on different port.
Please note that you do need open tcp 25 port to your server or you will have to hack around with third party servers.
Re: 10061 Can't open SMTP stream.
Thanks, that helped a bunch. Prolly a dumb question but do I need to own a domain or can I use something like polomoto.local? The video I watched said things like that should work but I'm having my doubts.

If you want to communicate with other internet users under own domain and not under domain of your email provider, you must own the domain.PoLoMoTo wrote:Thanks, that helped a bunch. Re: 10061 Can't open SMTP stream.
I'm using a subdomain, seems to be working fine. Although I have yet to receive an email that I sent to myself about 15 minutes ago.
Re: 10061 Can't open SMTP stream.
Well my ISP blocks inbound port 25 too so I'll have to find a way around that too, ugh...
Re: 10061 Can't open SMTP stream.
Best solution is to use an ISP or plan that does not block the ports. Many ISP's require a business static IP plan but some might not even offer the option.

If at first you don't succeed, bomb disposal probably isn't for you! ヅ
