Post by wally2255 » 2005-02-23 11:45

I am new to Squirrel and Hmail. When i go into my test account i have no folder on the left side and when i click on folder it gives me a logon error.
Whe I use the pops acount with outlook it downloads mail fine.
IIS, PHP, Hmail are installed.

According to the SquirrelMail requirements, you need at least php 4.1.2

I have v5.04 and have exactly the same problem. The SM server seems to be down as I can't navigate to the link above. Am I running a compatible version?

Have you turned on cookies?
Have you specified a valid writeable session.save_path in php.ini?

I have edited the c:\winnt\php.ini to the following...

; where MODE is the octal representation of the mode. Note that this
; does not overwrite the process's umask.
session.save_path = "c:\temp"

Everyone has full control permissions on the temp directory.

And you have restarted Apache/IIS after doing that, right?
Is it still the exact same error?

Of some reason, SquirrelMail seems to forget the password you entered. Because in the log you posted, the first time it logs on using a password, the second time it doesn't provide a password.

If you look in your C:\Temp path, do you have files named sess_* in that path?

No, nothing appears in that directory. The log is actually showing this now, perhaps I've changed something which has resulted in the following error...

Turn on error_reporting in php.ini and post the error message here if you get any.

On the user info page I get this:

Notice: Undefined index: REQUEST_URI in C:\WebMail\wwwroot\plugins\timeout_user\functions.php on line 109

Notice: Undefined offset: 1 in C:\WebMail\wwwroot\plugins\timeout_user\functions.php on line 110

But still nothing in left menu at all and seems like passwors is just not carring through.

do you have to run an install process or is it just ready to go with one config line change? Nay PHP plugins needed to be uncommented in php.ini?

My problem:
1.Only the first login was successful.
2. Coudn't use folders
3. Left side pannel was empty.

Solution:
Found it somewhere on the net.

16. Next locate the text "header("Location: $redirect_url");" in redirect.php found in your SquirrelMail "src" directory and replace it with the following ;

echo "<html><head><META HTTP-EQUIV=\"Refresh\" CONTENT=\"0;
URL=$redirect_url\"></head><body><a href=$redirect_url>Enter</a></body></html>";

Thanks. Fixed mine too!! :D

Got another minor problem to solve, getting the following error at the top of the page...

Notice: Undefined index: REQUEST_URI in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\squirrelmail\plugins\timeout_user\functions.php on line 109

But apart from that it's lookin' good.

Just remove plugins that you dont need. I found the change password plugin has same refesh error for me. The plugin that is erroring is the timeout user. Also tweak php.ini so that it does not display warnings and notices for production server.
