and btw sounds like Dell admitted the issue; now,
call me paranoid if you wish, but that's the result
of offsourcing things to countries in which corruption
and criminality are the norm rather than the exception
and there isn't so much to do; as long as one of the
rings of a chain is weak, the whole chain will be weak
and there's NOTHING you can do about it
or at least nothing which will really solve the issue

ugh :/ same deal with the chip and pin card readers, some of those were found to contain an sms chip in there that intercepted the card details / pin and text them to users outside of the country. shocking..

Heh... and that's just the latest; in the past I saw keyloggers
embedded in mouse drivers, malware directly injected into
firmwares and so on... w/o to say that someone is still trying
to found evidence about some MoBos containing "spy chips"
again, not wearing a tinfoil-hat or the like, but it seems to me
that it's almost time to give those issue a hard STOP, see
companies may spare money by outsourcing stuff, but then the
money they'll spare may quickly vanish due to the "bad image"
they'll earn as soon as something like this surfaces; till now
big names managed to "silence" such issues (see the SONY
rootkit one as an example) but we can't go on that way

I totally agree. Lets hope things will change someday.
