Can't send email from cloned box

Post by findermi » 2020-05-28 15:44

I recently built a new box to eventually replace my current one that has Hmail running on it. The new machine has all the software transferred over to it, is activated, etc. and is a copy of the old box. I wanted to test email functionality of the new box. I found that I can send and receive email to and from one of my domains to another okay but I cannot send to other domains/services such as Hotmail or GMail. They appear to send okay but never show up. I can receive email from those services. I have made the new box as identical as I can - same computer name, same IP address, etc. I never get any indication of a problem from HMail or any bounced back emails. I'm stumped.

You bought an identical hardware to the one you had..
you installed same operating system as you had ..
you installed same applications as system previously had
and you installed hmailserver just like previous had ..
and configured exactly like old ..

yup .. it should work ..

perhaps you have a log file of the attempting sending your mailserver is doing .... ?

Perhaps I should clarify. I did not buy the identical hardware - bought a new motherboard and chip and transferred the old OS and software to the new mobo using software designed for that purpose. Everything else runs fine. As I mentioned I can send email within my two domains and receive from them also. When I send email to another domain, such as GMail, the email appears to go just fine. The log indicates no error but the email never shows up on the other end. No email is bounced back. It appears to be something on the receiving end that the receiving email system detects but I cannot figure out what that could be.

Ip address? Dns records? All the same? Checked destination spam folders?

If your hmailserver logs show SMTPC entries as email being delivered then there is nothing to do with the server. Have you checked them?

what jimimaseye says... ( if other mailserver accepts transmission, but you cant see the delivery, your mail is likely in spam folder )

and you can test
https://mxtoolbox.com/diagnostic.aspx
https://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx
https://mxtoolbox.com/DMARC.aspx
https://mxtoolbox.com/DnsLookup.aspx
https://mxtoolbox.com/domain

since you are saying your logfile is ok .. we just take your word for it..
contact gmail and ask them where the mail went .. and you provide them with log entry of them accepting transmission ..

I understand that you say that you are replacing your old box and lots of things are 'the same' , but are you using the same LAN and same ISP?
