Send using different server if domain exists locally

Post by mod4 » 2020-03-05 19:31

Obscure problem here: We use the hMS for non-critical domains that basically just have alias' set up to forward to our main domain. We do however have our main domain setup on the hMS for a single account that is used for code testing. But since the domain is local and has no other accounts, if we try to forward an alias to that domain it stops with an unknown user error since the accounts don't exist locally. Makes sense, but is there a way to force forwards to ignore the local domain accounts (or lack of) and send using the primary server?

Create a route with the main hmailserver as the destination, then create a global rule: IF to contains <address> THEN use route.

Awesome, thanks. The primary isn't actually an hMS - it's Rackspace email, but this let's me know it's possible to deal with the issue I think. Thanks again for the help!
