ADO Cannot generate SSP1 context

Post by eliassal » 2020-01-30 12:02

Hi, I have hmailServer up and running since several years like a charm with sql2k12. Since a couple of weeks, I planned my IPv6 deployment to my network.
On the server, IPv6 was disabled, Yesterday I enabled it on this server, rebooted, network IP4 and 6 are corerctly assigned and Internet connection works fine for both.
But, when I fire hMailServer Administrator and try to connect, after a couple of minutes I get

The connection to the database is not Available
ADO : Cannot generate SSP1 context

So does hMailServer cannot work correctly when IPv6 is enabled, if not, how can I troubleshoot the issue?

I can ping the sql server without any problem

This seems to be a windows issue. In fact one result in the search links back here and Martin said it is definitely not a hmailserver issue.

SSPI in terms of hMailServer is most a SQL-Server with Windows Authentication thing.

Just use a MS-SQL-Server DB-User without Windows Authentication.

Palinka, I can agree with you as it is a windows issue. Just to confirm to you that I disabled again IPv6 on the network card, rebooted and hmail admin worked fine again.

My question is how to troubleshoot hMailserver what is going wrong/

Just use a MS-SQL-Server DB-User without Windows Authentication.
Change sql server user in services to local account or system (no password account).

This thread has a bunch of suggestions: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/181 ... pi-context

I cant as my sql server runs under a domain user for several reasons, it is not an option for me.
I enabled again IPv6 on the card and hMail admin broke again and getting a different error

The connection to the DB is not available
ADO: [DBNETLIB] ConnectionOpen (Connect()) SQL server does not exist or access denied

I an ping sql server without any issue. So please, can you tell me how can I switch to user authentication instead of windows nt? Thanks

None of the suggestions at the link you suggested are valid in my case as when I disable IPv6, everything works fine

You want the opposite - you want a local system account with no password (according to what I searched) to have authority over the service.

Win+R > services.msc > select your db server > right click > properties > Logon > log on a local system account. You might need to reboot windows. I'm not sure about that.

Palinka, my sql is a remote one and not on the server where hMailserver runs and as I said I can not change the user running the sql server.
Anyway, I was able to fix the issue by introducing the DNS IPV6 in the Nic config and hop, everthing started to work again
