Mail Server not Listening Correctly
I cannot Get the hmail to receive mail. I attached a Picture of a trace file "PublicServerConfig" and that shows that it is not a firewall problem. The capture was taken on the machine running HMailServer. It says its "listening. listeners.png" shows the result of netstat -a and all the listed listeners are hmail. I can send out mail just fine so I know the service is running.

Re: Mail Server not Listening Correctly
Question: is 12.5.172.17 your external IP address?
If NO: your DNS records are wrong and this is why nothing is connecting
IF YES: you have a firewall problem. Windows firewall, Router - incorrect routing, or ISP port blocking. OR you have misconfigured HMS. Please run this and post the results: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=30914

Re: Mail Server not Listening Correctly
So it is a block of port somewhere else because your server is uncontactable from wan side. However you look at it it is a routing error. Check your router forwarding.caleb.baker194 wrote: ↑2018-08-01 21:39That is my external IP,

P.s just because it's a commercial connection, don't assume they don't make mistakes or that port 25 INBOUND is open.

Re: Mail Server not Listening Correctly
That's why i took the packet capture screen shot. It clearly shows the connection request from the external gmail on my computers network card. So my hardware is getting the request. how can it be a routing error if I see the packet?
Re: Mail Server not Listening Correctly
I see from IP lookup that you have att for service. I Googled "att blocking port 25 static IP" and found many results with business accounts having port 25 blocked. You should call your ISP.jimimaseye wrote: ↑2018-08-01 22:15P.s just because it's a commercial connection, don't assume they don't make mistakes or that port 25 INBOUND is open.

Re: Mail Server not Listening Correctly
I would think that, But its just the hmail service. I can put other services in its place and they work fine On port 25jimimaseye wrote: ↑2018-08-01 22:15So it is a block of port somewhere else because your server is uncontactable from wan side.
Re: Mail Server not Listening Correctly
A long shot: delete bind IP in SMTP settings.
Is any software firewall running? They often go with services rather than ports.

Re: Mail Server not Listening Correctly
Windows Defender had apparently blocked the service from running some time back. I had since then disabled windows defender but forget that It re-enables itself after some time. Thanks All so much for the help

PS.
I also removed the bind Address but cant confirm weather or not that was a piece of it
Re: Mail Server not Listening Correctly
That'll do it.
Better to leave bind IP blank unless there a good reason for it. Could make other services looking for localhost:25 etc not find HMS if it only listens on the lan IP. Just another complication to sort out in future troubleshooting.
And windows firewall is trash. On my win 10 box I couldn't make an exception for RDC work AT ALL. Something buggy or broken. I finally gave up and tried a couple other software firewalls. They all have issues as far as I can tell.

Re: Mail Server not Listening Correctly
I have no idea why it didn't work but it was the only exception that didn't work. I goolaged it and nothing really came up, so either something got seriously messed up somewhere or I had a conflict. But I couldn't find anything so I have up and blamed Microsoft.
Re: Mail Server not Listening Correctly
Renewed interest led me to find an issue with group policy. Not sure why this wouldn't affect everyone since the default values were untouched. Anyway, I'll test next week. Leaving for a long weekend.
