Check outgoing.

Post by TClancey » 2012-12-09 23:59

I'm updating an app for a customer which sends loads of outgoing mails.

Is there a way to halt outgoing SMTP mail in hmail and look at the messages waiting to be sent? Or would I have to do this with the com?

Cheers,
Tull.

In hmail admin you go to status area then go to Queue. On the Status screen you can press pause/stop to make hmail no longer accept messages but it'll stop delivery of queue too.

Many thanks, I thought this might be the case. I think I'll have to setup an isolated machine for testing as I can't afford to 'stop' the entire service on that on. Would be nice to be able to pause individual queues, in and out, but only really as a development tool.

Thanks again.

ability to pause delivery while keeping smtp/pop services alive is important option. It gives admin option to stop outbreak and to investigate without highly visible impact on end users. It is not just "nice to have" thing

If you are handy with SQL you can manually. You just change the messagetype value. Obivously be cafeful & know what you are doing but it works. As a matter of fact I've been planning to add a way for people to pause all current messages to aid in clearing out if a spammer abuses an account just haven't had time

Senior User makes a good point. I am tinkering around with a small installation, a lot of emails but only a handful of recipients. In a larger deployment I can see how this could be invaluable.

I am pretty handy with SQL, but as yet haven't spent any time looking at the database, I will do when the current pile of work is finished.

Thanks,
Tull.
