A client of mine have reported an issue with Apple products. He has provided his sales force with Ipads for online reporting. Several users start out of the blue to receive "incorrect username/password" error and consequently their mailbox gets locked, although they didn't change a thing. After googling the problem I found out that is typical for Apple products ever since 2010. The issue appears out of the blue and seems to cease the same. Since the issue is reported only by Apple products users, it is clear it's not hMailServer fault. Though, there is one thing I don't understand. From what I have read here in the forum, once an mailbox gets locked, it will unlock itselfs after 2 minutes. But this don't happend and I'm forced to unlock the manually, which is not a very pleasent task as client has about 70 sales agents with their own mailbox. So, my question is, is it something wrong with my hMailServer installation that prevents mailbox to unlock themselves? The unlock didn't occur even if I ask them to close mail client on iPad and wait for 5 minutes before opening it again. Mention should be made that I have the autoblock option unchecked so this shoulnd't be the cause.
Thanks,
Apple products keep locking mailboxes.
Re: Apple products keep locking mailboxes.
I think unlock occurs after 30 minutes, not 2 minutes as you suggest
Convert your apple users to IMAP.
IMAP is intended for multiple connections

Re: Apple products keep locking mailboxes.
95% of them only using iPads, so no concurent connections. The issue is related to weird wrong user name/passwords error. It seems that somehow the application don't provide right credentials but I coulnd't find out any explanation why this is happening, as the user don't change a thing and now works, 5 minutes later don't.
One thing, if I would activate the auto-ban feature and set the unlock time to 5 minutes, will this overide the 30 minutes lock?

Re: Apple products keep locking mailboxes.
I added timeout options in hmailserver.ini in newer builds of 5.4.

Granted using IMAP is likely best for shared box or for people suffering from stale locks due to unreliable internet connection but lowering the pop timeout should help even if it doesn't eliminate the locks.
