 Post subject: Use smtp.gmail.com as smtp server?

Hi Martin,

I was wodering whether it's possible to use smtp.gmail.com as the smtp server? I ran into this article describing using gmail as the alternate smtp server: http://www.lifehacker.com/software/emai ... 111166.php

I tried telnet smtp.gmail.com 587 (25 looks like being blocked), it seems accepting command.

I turned on the authentication mode for smtp using my id and password, however, I was not able to send emails...

Let me know whether I did something wrong...thanx...

smtp.gmail.com requires TLS which hMailServer currently does not support.

You can use stunnel to enable this. You can also collect mail from Google using POP3 over stunnel. Once you have set up POP3 and SMTP on Goggle configure stunnel to act as a local Google proxy:

This listens for outgoing mail on port 1099 and for collections on port 108. Configure a route in hMailServer to deliver to localhost port 1099, set Server Requires Authentication and use your full gmail address and pasword.
