Have you checked your hMailServer log to see what is reported when the certificate verification fails? If you enable all logging, the actual error message from Windows will be logged (hMailServer relies on Windows to do certificate verification).

(I removed the logs and screenshot from your post - hope you don't mind. This is a public forum and the logs could contain stuff which you want to consider internal. All the email addresses could be abused by spammers for example.)

There are also messages that have attempted delivery and failed at least 1 time but they should be cleared by now since the SMTP settings are set for 4 retries every 15 minutes so within an hour from being submitted it should give up if it can't deliver the email yet that doesn't seem to be happeni...

I noticed that some spammers have started to create multiple-accounts, so that the spam bots can reply to each-others post to make them more trustworthy - fun stuff. If you look in task manager, is the hMailServer.exe running?

You can run the old installation again if you want to switch back to the original version until this issue is resolved.

You need to open the Windows firewall to let traffic in for SMTP and POP3 or IMAP (whatever you're using). Otherwise you won't be able to connect from the other laptop. No, you only need to install hMailServer on a single computer.

Roughly how many users are there on the server? And how many messages?

The messages you originally get are related to memory allocation, which is why I suggest a memory usage issue.

I suspect it's due to an out-of-memory issue some users have been seeing. That specific one will be fixed in 5.7, but a dump file could tell me a bit more.

0 means unlimited.

My suggestion is that you upgrade to hMailServer 5.6. The error logging in this version is much improved, and if you can give me the error logs from this version it should be solvable.

I believe that's a false positive.The link you gave even statesstates:
Note: Not all implementations of STARTTLS are affected by this vulnerability.
They just seem to be guessing that since you're using STARTTLS you could be affected.

Well, the EULA for hMailServer includes the EULA for SQL Compact. This EULA is shown during the installation program. There's also a link to the web page detailing which database is recommended where this limitation is also mentioned.

Yes, there's no more big changes planned. I would say that it's already production ready... I've been using it in production for 3 weeks. It's more of a timing issue, that I don't want to release new versions too often.
