N.B. the F-Prot return value is actually a Binary flag so it might actually have several meanings. hMail caches non important database entries which is why it doesn't work until restart. Better to use the COM API.

If your server doesn't even respond then there is a much larger problem going on with your setup. How many .eml files are there in your data directory (Not in sub directories just the data dir)?

The password should be the one used when you installed hMail, not an account admin password. If you are using the main admin password, make sure there are no spaces at the end of the password, and that you only edited the config in notepad, not wordpad or other rich text document writer.

That doesn't matter, your IP is classed as dynamic. Your ISP tells the world that your IP is dynamic and that is why your emails are classed as spam. My IP has not changed in almost 2 years but it is still classed as a dynamic ip, because it can change and my ISP designates it as dynamic. If i tried...

make sure the reverse dns of your ip matches your mx record, so if you have mail.yourdomain.com as your mx record, the reverse of the ip should be the same. You cannot do that with hmail and that would be also be a bad idea if you could. If this did work, spam servers would see this as an open relay server as it was accepting email to any domain from any domain. Your server would fill up so quick with spam email you would be overwhelmed.

What specifically did you try? The data directory synchroniser is supposed to fix that problem if you run it.

Also it's not really an error it's more a warning. hMail will function perfectly fine with full paths.

You can get round it by using a relay service that will accept email for you and send it to your mail server on an alternate port, but all the ones I know about cost money, so if you are going to spend money on a relay you may as well just host your email server offsite.

Goto the addons folder in your install directory and run the DDS tool. That tool I believe has the ability to fix the issue you are seeing.

clamwin should only be used on very light setups. There are no ClamAV howto's on here that I know about. Once you have ClamAV setup though all you need do is tell hmail where it is.

thankyou so much that was exactly what i needed! so since i have yet to see any local to external spam going out, it has all been external to external, the fact that i shut that ability off of my ip ranges should fix the problem, unless someone gets a local account information and trys spamming loc...

When someone is authenticated they are "Trusted" and can send as any domain they like. There are scripts on this forum to help prevent the type of issues you are seeing. Unfortunately they are preventative scripts which means they stop these emails before they come in but won't help in your current ...

Either you have allowed open relay by not asking for authentication on external to external on your internet ip range or one of your account username/passwords has been guessed.
