Re: One of our clients is unable to connect our IMAP server
Finally, we wanted to repeat the login attempt and fetch the logs and now it works, magically.
While I'm happy this works now, I fear the magic of bugs, they might come back and I'm not aware of their cause ...

Re: HOW TO: Easy Set Up DKIM signatures on Hmailserver
You must have mistyped/misread/mishandled some of the data somehow and perhaps not set the dns record correctly. Let me know your domain so we can check. (Also, stop and restart your hmailserver service to be sure) Thank you for your PM. The DNS record was not stored correctly. Now it's working and...

Re: HOW TO: Easy Set Up DKIM signatures on Hmailserver
Ok I could not resist and tried this.
The dkim signature got attached, but in the top of the mail behind Authentication-Results it's not "dkim=pass", it's "dkim=permerror header.d=***.com".
What does this mean? The signature below looks right to me.

Re: How to encrypt the authentication on a STARTTLS mail server?
Thank you. Do you have dkim enabled? I posted an easy 'how to' yesterday in the tutorial section. That will at least go some way to ensuring your emails are not modified. And with spf and dmarc you can stop frauds being received altogether. (I acknowledge this doesn't stop your emails being snooped...

Re: How to encrypt the authentication on a STARTTLS mail server?
AFAIK HMS doesnt support encrypted password (or any of the other type) and there is no way of implementing it with scripts or otherwise - and in fact very few email server/providers do offer this. With your connection security being stated as TLS/SSL anyway, the password will already be encrypted (...

Re: How to encrypt the authentication on a STARTTLS mail server?
Your initial request was about encrypting the password when sending it, right? Therefore it will be encrypted as this will be on the first hop (as will the emial contents). Someone shouldnt be able to snoop and see the password being sent. But that is where the encryption protection for this stage ...

Re: How to encrypt the authentication on a STARTTLS mail server?
THIS DOES NOT PROTECT EMAIL CONTENTS, only message level encryption will do that (PKI, PGP, MIME etc) Yes, I know that our mails are not save yet. I'm looking further to get S/MIME or PGP to run in a later step. You can't use encrypted in Thunderbird credentials. The password is not exchanged until...

How to encrypt the authentication on a STARTTLS mail server?
So, I finally got everything to work on our hMailServer, including a valid certificate and key. Now my last security problem is the way our clients authenticate on SMTPS / IMAPS. SMTPS is not on Port 443 (this is for HTTPS protocol) the correct and expected Port for SMTPS is 587 for IMAP its 143 and for SMTP to SMTP-Server comummication its Port 25. Re: SSL: Cannot login to IMAP and SMTP due unknown protocol, openssl reports
HMailserver doesnt use the System crypto store at all, its using OpenSSL and you have to setup your CRT and Key file in the hMailserver ssl settings via the GUI Admin tool. It is probably using SHA256 to encrypt the passwords in the database as that is the default I think unless you changed it. I don't think so. SSL: Cannot login to IMAP and SMTP due unknown protocol, openssl reports
I finally managed to install my certificate from our CA on hMailServer. I configured port 993 (IMAP) and 143 (SMTP) to use the certificate and to use STARTTSL (required). I enabled all TLS versions and disabled some very weak ciphers on the local security policy in my Windows Server 2012 R2. My ciph...

Re: ADO: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (SECDoClientHandshake()).]SSL Security error.
Ok, I disabled SHA hashing before the problem occured, so obviously hMailServer uses a SHA type cipher to connect to my local database. Now it's working again, however I don't want hMailServer to use SSL on the local database. Hope anybody knows a solution to this, but it's not an emergency, anymore...

In order to be universal and avoid the risk of 'forgetting' to add to your Array of domains any new domains that may be created, you could replace all the above and simply just use: If oClient.username <> "" then The idea being that if oClient.username is not "" then it must be authenticated, and t...

Basically, when you reply to any mail in any client, hMailServer will place the auto signature at the very end of the mail down below the quote of the person you are replying to.
