enable the "Check for email every... minute" option in Thunderbird and set the time to 30 minutes. I know. :) I already did this to keep Thunderbird on the office computers checking to prevent any more complaints (although I used a shorter time than the 30 minutes since I didn't know it's 30 minute...

I think the problem you had with messages not being downloadable from the large mailbox account will be solved as well; I've tried succesfully with mailboxes containing 100 000 messages. hMailserver won't do anything by itself. It will only do what it is told to do. Compaction includes expunge. When compaction happens expunge happens. If you want thunderbird to expunge after delete you will need to set this to true. Just a short update: down to 5997 mails and still no luck, disconnects approx. 4 seconds after starting like in the log I posted before. After I lowered the mail count of the external account to 4997 it started downloading the mails... One other account went over 5200 mails thanks to SPAM and still...

Which version are you using? There was an issue with an earlier version where this functionality didn't work. I'm using 4.4.2-B283, where it should work according to the threads I found. Best option is to test and see. I'll try in a few days and when I find out I'll post an update into this thread.
